The team set out to install new headers and an exhaust for the GR86 this week.
Our friends at A'PEXi had an exhaust system up for grabs for the GR86, so we went over to pick them up for the install. We opted for their "Super Catalyzer with Exhaust Manifold" since it reduces exhaust restrictions by condensing the two catalytic convertors into one while still meeting emission standards (your mileage may vary). With these new headers, we expect an improvement to throttle and rev response as well as the amount of torque the FA24 can put out.
We also installed the A'PEXi RS Evo Extreme Muffler to match the headers. After all, you can't say no to those shiny blue tips. So far we have been quite happy with the sound and pitch. We feel that the car's notes are at a comfortable level to daily and still be sporty for the track. We will be closely monitoring the car from day to day and take notes on its performance difference.
